Meghan and Kris

Meghan’s family has visited Montauk every summer since she was three years old, so it was the perfect destination for this New York City couple to host a beautifully elegant, and relaxed summer wedding. It seems that many things about this couple are wonderfully simple, and just seem to fit. Meghan bought her dress from Vera Wang- She went to two other stores before she found her dress and never looked back – she knew it was the one.  The search was surprisingly easy.

The Roman Catholic church in Montauk is called St. Therese of Lisieux.  For ten years, Montauk had been raising money to rebuild the church.  Finally in the Spring of 2008, the new church was opened.  Meghan and Kris watched the final years of construction and knew they wanted the beautiful church to be the site of their ceremony.  The couple personalized the ceremony by incorporating songs they love, and asking family members to participate in the mass and present readings.   Kris’ aunt also created a personal Prayers of the Faithful for the wedding.  The officiant was Father Edward Byrne, a friend of Meghan’s mother, who travelled from Ossining, New York.

The reception was held at the Montauk Yacht Club.  After spending 20 summers in the town, Meghan had no idea it even existed, but the second Kris and Meghan saw it, they knew it was perfect.  Meghan and Kris said, “It exemplified our wishes for the day – a classic venue with a laid back feel. We chose all aspects of the day around that feeling.  The flowers were classic flowers beautifully matched with candles for a quiet elegance.  Chef Michael Dimitrovich created food representative of Montauk – from the raw bar at the cocktail hour, the passed hors d’oeuvres of tuna and crab stuffed mushrooms to the delicious duo of filet mignon with tamarind demi-glace and Cajun BBQ shrimp.”

For the first dance, Meghan and Kris chose Brad Paisley’s “Then”. Meghan’s strong love of country music began when she went away to college in Georgia. Since they’ve been together, Kris has learned to love country music too, and chose this song. Meghan says, “The words describe our relationship perfectly.  Eric Nicholas and his band did an unbelievable job performing this song and we will always remember that dance.”
